This intensive program is carefully planned to give young students the confidence to use a sewing machine and encourage them to use creativity through their work.
Projects will include: up-cycled denim backpacks, denim aprons, repurposing old sweaters into slippers and mittens, denim art and jewellery. The students will learn all the essential skills needed to make all of the mentioned projects.
Our project based curriculum will not only teach your child to sew, it will also teach them about patience, achievement and problem solving. We pride ourselves on being a creative and educational outlet for your family.
Skills you'll learn:
How to operate sewing machine
Hand sewing techniques (basting, button application, blanket stitch, applique slipstitch)
Pinning, cutting, marking techniques
Note: We provide sewing machines, sergers, thread and swatches for in-class exercises. Some notions and handouts are also provided. Students will need a basic sewing kit in class and a sewing machine at home to practice.
